Peru’s Children – Day 4

We arrived in Arequipa today, and this really feels like a South American city! We stepped off the plane to a stunning view of snow-covered mountains. We drove through narrow streets with classical Spanish-style buildings. Our hotel is less than a block from a public square surrounded by the arched columns of colonnades on three sides and a massive cathedral on the fourth side. The square has a fountain in the center and is a gathering place for people, including lots of children who are there to feed the pigeons and run around. Everyone takes pictures of them doing so, so I could just blend in as a tourist.
