Photography Workshops Information
- Artist Visit: Elements of Design (Gr 3-12) (one session) (up to 30 students)
For elementary art classes OR for photography art classes at middle & high school. Students see slides of Senisi's photographs of everyday objects and people that show the same design elements art teachers teach.
- Star In A Picture Book Creative Workshop (Gr K-6) (can opt for 2 -5 sessions) (25 students max)
Students and staff are photographed by Senisi at work and play in their school. The group uses the finished prints to create a book about themselves. (very successful in Pre-K, kindergarten, and special needs classes, too)
- Photo Essay Creative Workshop (Gr 2-12) (five sessions) (25 students max) (need minimum of 5 cameras and budget for prints)
Students study word/image relationships then create a photo essay project. Lessons include both photography and writing.
- Photographic Technique (Gr 9-12 art or photography classes)
Organized as needed to teach basic or advanced technique.
Author Visits Detailed Information
- Author Visit (K-6) (For assembly or classroom)
This presentation, usually accompanied by slides from Senisi's books and (where situation allows) rough drafts and galleys, gives students a basic overview of writing, illustrating and publishing children's books. Her photographs of real children in everyday environments familiar to kids (school, home) help make connections between books and real life.

Booking
- Educational programs may be booked directly through Ellen or through one of her publishers. (Booking through publishers makes it easier to get books for signing for students. Publisher will usually set up account with school, bill only for the amount of books sold, and accept returns of books not purchased.)
Rate Schedule for Educational Consulting (Including Educational Consulting, Artist-in-Residencies, Author or Artist Visits, Gifted and Talented Programs, Staff Development, and Creative Workshops in photography and/or writing)
- Basic Rate: $800 per day for already-prepared programs.
- Multiple days are charged at a lower rate. When I know the scope of the project (how many days, how many different presentations, how much preparation, etc.), I will give you a quote.
- New programs are created on request for an additional fee.
- A lower fee may be negotiated for inner-city or other schools in need.
- A lower fee may sometimes also be negotiated in exchange for allowing photographs to be taken in a classroom. (This involves some time on the participating teacher's part; he or she takes charge of parental permission forms, helps set up the room for photo shoot, and teaches a planned lesson or lessons to be p
- A lower fee may be negotiated for inner-city or other schools in need.<
or BOCES in Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady and Rensselaer-Columbia-Green so a portion of my fee can sometimes be paid by BOCES for Upstate New York presentations.
- Materials and services required to complete the project (art supplies, film, processing, visual aids, etc.) are supplied by the school or else charged by me as reimbursable expenses. Expenses are estimated and agreed upon at the beginning of the project.
- Transportation is to be agreed upon ahead of time between school and author. I am generally willing to drive up to three hours from Schenectady, but longer distances may be negotiated. A mileage charge (the standard rate of $.55/mile) is charged for distances over twenty miles from my home.
